About Our Association

The All India Game Fishing Association (AIGFA) was established in 2016 with a vision to promote and regulate the sport of game fishing across India. As a recognized body under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Registration No: U74900MH2016NPL274486), we aim to foster a community of anglers while advocating for sustainable fishing practices and marine conservation.

Our mission is to enhance the game fishing experience through organized tournaments, educational programs, and conservation initiatives. We collaborate with environmental agencies, research institutions, and local communities to protect aquatic ecosystems and promote ethical angling.

Tournaments & Competitions

Organize and sanction game fishing tournaments across India, including the prestigious All India Game Fishing Championship. We ensure fair play, safety standards, and adherence to catch-and-release policies. Tournaments are categorized by species, region, and skill level, providing opportunities for all anglers.

Our events feature categories such as Big Game Fishing (Marlin, Tuna), Light Tackle (Snapper, Mackerel), and Freshwater (Mahseer, Trout). Each tournament is conducted under strict guidelines to minimize environmental impact.

Education & Training

Provide certified courses on angling techniques, equipment handling, marine biology, and conservation ethics. Our training programs are designed for beginners, intermediates, and advanced anglers, covering topics like knot tying, fish identification, and sustainable practices.

To join AIGFA, fill out the online application form on our website or contact our office. You'll need to provide basic details, agree to our code of conduct, and pay the membership fee. Upon verification, you'll receive a digital membership card and welcome kit within 7-10 business days. Memberships are valid for one year from the date of registration and can be renewed online.

Individuals aged 18 and above can apply for full membership. For minors (12-17 years), we offer a Junior Angler program with parental consent, which includes limited benefits and focuses on education. Junior members must be accompanied by an adult during events. No upper age limit applies; we encourage anglers of all ages to participate.

Marlin Fishing Tournament

All India Big Game Championship 2024

Date: 15-18 November 2024 | Location: Kochi, Kerala

This premier tournament targets species like Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, and Sailfish. Open to teams of up to 4 anglers, the event features cash prizes totaling ₹10 lakhs. Strict catch-and-release rules apply, with points awarded based on length and species. Registration closes on 31 October 2024.

Freshwater Angling Workshop

Mahseer Conservation Workshop & Angling Clinic

Date: 5-7 December 2024 | Location: Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

A hands-on workshop focusing on the endangered Golden Mahseer. Participants will learn conservation techniques, habitat restoration, and ethical angling practices. Includes field sessions on the Ganges River, led by experts. Suitable for all skill levels. Limited to 30 participants.

Past Event Highlights

In 2023, we successfully organized 28 events across India, with over 3,000 participants. Notable events included the Goa International Game Fishing Tournament, where anglers released 95% of caught fish, and the Chennai Coastal Clean-Up, which removed 2 tons of plastic waste. Our events have garnered support from brands like Shimano and Patagonia, enhancing the angling community's reach.

We also conducted research collaborations with the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) to study fish populations, contributing valuable data for conservation policies. These efforts underscore our commitment to blending sport with science.
